UI/UX Designer


The Technology team at Deep Lens, Inc. is seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to support new and ongoing development of our Pathology platform.  This role is responsible for planning and managing the design of the Deep Lens product offerings. This includes working with the product team, engineers,  stakeholders, marketing, sales and directly with customers to create and maintain the design, user experience, style guide and overall look and feel for the Deep Lens product offerings.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with Product Owners and Engineers
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, wireframes and sitemaps
  • Develop and maintain the product style guide: user interface elements, navigation, tabs and components
  • Develop navigable UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how users will interact with products
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams, external users and advisors
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Strive to find ways to improve the current system, discover issues and deliver value to customers 
  • Collaborate closely with internal & external stakeholders and other product teams to understand the business needs driving changes to product functionality
  • Represent the company by meeting with customers to solicit feedback on company product and support services
  • Actively research and assess competitors within our industry

Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, particularly in agile software development organizations
  • Dedicated customer / user focus with the understanding that pleasing the user with excellent products is our goal
  • Fundamental understanding of UX standards and best practices for software development
  • Portfolio of design projects
  • Knowledge of design tools (Sketch, Zeplin)
  • A natural collaborator who seeks out new perspectives and builds trusting relationships with stakeholders
  • Proven experience identifying and prioritizing the most important things amongst all tasks
  • Ability to work with multiple product owners across a business domain to coordinate overlapping needs
  • Adept at obtaining and mastering business context and industry insights
  • Curious and inquisitive, actively works to remove implicit bias and is able to find the answer but does not need to have the answer.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: understands the lack of clarity when working in a new product development model
  • Prior experience in Healthcare and / or working on products which leverage healthcare data
  • High degree of responsiveness, reliability, and integrity
  • Decisiveness, good judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good time-management skills
